How it began
A gap that needed filling
Hangberg Dreams was founded after an outpatient substance misuse facility closed. Our founder had managed it for nine years, and its closure left a painful gap for her and for the many individuals and families who relied on it.
While volunteering in Hangberg, she saw the daily challenges of substance misuse, trauma, unemployment and instability. With years of managerial experience, her own long journey in recovery and a passion for helping people, she stepped forward.
She registered a non-profit and applied for support from the Department of Social Development. Hangberg Dreams NPC was registered under 2019/307803/08 and later recognised by Social Development.
The miracle is in the doing.
Our mission
A safe, sober, supportive place where people in recovery can rebuild their lives and rediscover their worth.
We walk alongside people as they heal and grow, with empathy, structure and unwavering belief in their potential, so that they can reintegrate into society with dignity.
As a mother of three, our founder instils the values of respect, responsibility and integrity that form the foundation of Hangberg Dreams.
